The best way to get to know the town is to park your car and walk. Most of the old brick buildings that were built during the 1860’s are still in use today, so go inside and look around. You can walk down Commercial Street; each building has its own story to tell. The Placer County Bank building, located in the middle of the block, was the site of a famous robbery.

Probably the most famous attraction in Auburn is the firehouse. It was home to the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department organized in 1852; this group is still fighting fires today.
